Team Spotlight: Michelle Sampson, Client Support Technician
A few months ago, we added a new member to the team here at Fortitude Financial Planning. Michelle Sampson joined us in April as our Client Support Technician, supporting our financial planners and clients. You'll typically find her preparing for clients' regular planning meetings, carrying out research, and implementing recommendations. Michelle says that she "thoroughly enjoy[s] working as part of such a professional and friendly team".
So, without further ado, let's get to know her a little better.
Hi Michelle, welcome to the team! Let's start simple: can you describe the kind of work you do in three words?
I would have to say: administrative, support, implementation.
We realise it's only been a few months, but what's been your proudest moment at Fortitude Financial Planning to date?
As you say, I have only been with Fortitude Financial Planning for a short time. Still, I am proud to have joined a company that is so focused on its clients and acting in their best interests.
What keeps you smiling at work every day?
Definitely the team; they have been so welcoming since I joined and made me feel at home very quickly.
That's really lovely to hear. And what keeps you busy when you're not working?
My family. We spend as much of our free time together as possible. When we can, we enjoy visiting historic sites and museums across the UK. Lockdown was rubbish in that sense, but we're looking forward to being able to get back out there.
Our nation is so rich with culture, it's hard to imagine running out of things to do. Michelle, do you have a quote or phrase that goes through life with you?
"Treat others the way you want to be treated". I heard this as a child – I'm sure many of us did – and it stuck with me. Although it's a very simple concept, I think it is essential to consider how you treat others.
Where is the most interesting place you've been?
A few years ago, I was able to spend a day in Albania on an excursion. We visited Butrint National Park, which is a Greek and Roman archaeological site; so much history! It was an amazing day that I would recommend to everyone.
We'll add it to our (very long) list. Who is your hero, and why?
I don't have a specific hero. I just admire anybody who never gives up and strives to continue developing.
Us too – that concept is so central to what we do at Fortitude, as you know. Okay, final question: if you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
I would tell younger me to have confidence in my own abilities.
