Team Spotlight: Liz Reed, Client support

We’ve spent ten months introducing you to the team, and now last but by no means least it’s time to say hello to our Client Support Team member, Liz Reed. If you’re a client you’ve certainly been in touch with Liz at some point, as she’s the one working hard to provide any and all support that you may need. Whether it’s fielding your calls or preparing for your meetings, Liz is on the case.

Hello Liz! You’ve been extremely patient waiting your turn for the spotlight. Let’s start by asking you how you would describe your role in just three words?

They would have to be: support, process and update. Keeping all the cogs turning and making sure everybody’s needs are met.

That’s quite an excellent summary. What's been your proudest moment at Fortitude Financial Planning to date?

I can’t think of one particular moment, but I’m very proud to work with such a successful team of people to make Fortitude what it is.

We absolutely agree, we are lucky to have such an energised and inspiring team here at Fortitude. Pride is quite a big word, so let’s scale back down: what keeps you smiling at work every day?

That’s easy – my colleagues. Despite remote working at present we have all continued to maintain a great team spirit. We even did a team challenge together late last year and early this year.

Let’s step outside of work for a moment. What keeps you busy when you’re not working?

At the moment during lockdown, walking! I’ve done so much of it that I am now 4 stone lighter than I was a year ago, and so much fitter than I was. I’ve lived in Northamptonshire all my life, and even now I am finding great walks that I didn’t know existed.

There is so much to be said for a nice brisk walk in the countryside. It does wonders for the body and brain! Liz, do you have a quote or phrase that goes through life with you?

I do – “You should treat others the way you want to be treated yourself”. A very simple lesson that has a big impact on the way you present yourself in the world.

Small but mighty, absolutely. We’re all desperate to go away right now after being at home all year: where is the most interesting place you've been?

It has to be New York City. I went there to celebrate a special wedding anniversary, and I was so mesmerised by the amazing skyline and the intensity of the city. It was totally different from European cities I have visited.

Consider it firmly placed on our travel list. We’re coming to the end of our questions now. Before we wrap up, could you tell us who is your hero and why?

Hmm, I don’t have one particular hero I don’t think. But anyone who has overcome adversity, and helps others in life, is pretty heroic in my eyes.

We couldn’t agree more. And finally, some parting words of wisdom: if you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?

Be more assertive and take more risks in life!

That’s an excellent piece of advice. Liz, thank you very much!
