Spotlight on Belinda Stock, Senior Client Support

As the winter nights roll in, we’re keeping our spirits up with our Team Spotlight series. We work with these people every day, but when you go right back to basics and take the time to sit down and put the spotlight on them for fifteen minutes you can learn some very interesting and insightful new things.

Stepping into the spotlight this month is our Senior Client Support, Belinda Stock. She’s been with us for five years out of her long career in financial services, and says that the profession is “not quite such an “old boys’ network” as it used to be, which can only be a good thing!”.

Take it away, Belinda.

Good morning Belinda! First of all, can you describe the kind of work you do in three words?

Support, Assistance, Processing. Taking care of our clients and our Planners’ needs as best I can!

That’s a little more than three but we’ll let it slide. What's been your proudest moment at Fortitude Financial Planning to date?

Rather than one single moment, it’s every time a client tells us that what we do has literally changed their lives, for the better! And that they can now do everything they want to but maybe thought they couldn’t, not yet anyway. We have tissues in our meeting rooms for a reason!

What a heartwarming answer. Let’s stay in that happy place: what keeps you smiling at work every day?

The people, our team. We have great camaraderie, and we do fun stuff together too so it’s not all work, work, work. We always try to help each other where and when needed – knowing we can rely on each other is great.

And what keeps you busy when you’re not working?

I’m Mum to two beautiful young women, just starting out on their next phase of life. Also, music – I sing as part of an acoustic duo with my guitarist husband.

Tell us the quote or phrase that goes through life with you.

No regrets, what’s the point?! You can’t change what’s been, only learn going forward.

Fine words and an excellent philosophy. Where is the most interesting place you've been?

Venice was not only beautiful and desperately romantic (especially on honeymoon!) but the history and architecture was incredible. Seeing a FedEx boat delivering boxes was interesting!

Oh that sounds strange and lovely all at once. Who is your hero and why?

Anyone who overcomes severe adversity – soldiers who’ve lost limbs only to then excel at extreme sports for example!

Inspirational people, we agree. The final question for today: if you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?

Don’t say no to incredible opportunities that present themselves to you and if given the chance to travel, do it – see the world.

What wonderful, sage advice. Thank you, Belinda!
