Twitter, the online social networking and micro-blogging service that enables users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters (known as ‘Tweets’) describes itself as “a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?”.
If you’re new to Twitter, or know very little about it, then this description probably sounds quite vague and ambiguous. Think of Twitter more as a short-form messaging tool, much like ‘texting’ (SMS messaging) but as a new form of online communication. In quite simplistic terms, Twitter is just a form of communication taking a new shape, as well as a platform for listening to how people communicate and engage with each other in different ways.
Here at Fortitude we’ve started to dip our toe(s) in the water with Twitter. Both Neil (@Fortitude_Neil) and Chris (@Fortitude_Chris) are active on the platform. They’re basically just having fun with it, starting a dialogue and exchanging ideas with our professional community, sharing stories, blog posts and a joke (or three) with other users.
We’re trying to build their following (i.e. the number of people they interact with on Twitter), so to join the conversation – and at the same time have a bit of fun – connect with them via the links below.
